At Pure Essence, we’re not just selling rice—we’re reviving a legacy. We are a brand born from nostalgia, purpose, and a deep connection to India’s rich agricultural heritage.

Our Story: Rooted in Tradition, Grown with Purpose

Rakesh Verma, founder of Pure Essence, grew up in Chhattisgarh, fondly known as India’s “Rice Bowl” (*धान का कटोरा). For him, rice was never just food—it was a way of life. Each grain carried the essence of his homeland’s traditions, culture, and identity.

Raised amidst over 23,000 native rice varieties cultivated using ancestral farming techniques, Rakesh experienced firsthand the taste, aroma, and health benefits of truly indigenous grains—grains known to aid digestion, boost immunity, enhance energy, and support diabetic wellness.

After a successful 25-year career across multiple industries and earning credentials from IIM, Rakesh felt a deep calling to return to his roots. This personal journey gave rise to Pure Essence—a brand committed to preserving and promoting traditional Indian rice and empowering the very communities that shaped his life.

Today, Pure Essence works hand-in-hand with local farmers and rural women in Chhattisgarh, supporting sustainable farming, economic independence, and the revival of forgotten grain varieties.
